A Tog's Trek

Avalon | Visit 1

For years, I’ve had a search on Sweden’s main property search tool, Hemnet, for land in Sweden, less than 5km from water, over 1000 sq meters and under 500,000 KR. Occasionally one or two has caught my fancy, but they’ve always been too far to get to, or not quite what I was looking for. Then one appeared 1.5 hours drive from Gotheburg near to Sweden’s largest lake. I figured why not go and visit, its close enough that I can do a day trip, and worst case, the dog gets a nice run through some open land.

It’s a super easy drive from my place, straight up the E45 and then inland for 15km. The land itself was not at all what I was expecting. Swedish land typically seems to be a lot of flat pasture land with tall trees. This was diverse, rocky, and had recently been cleared of a lot of the timber. I liked it, and I really liked this secluded section I found with a old stone wall. That captured my imagination.

I called into the lovely harbour and had a drink on the public benches looking out over the water.

I then headed into the local town, Brålanda to walk around and enjoyed the little town’s vibe.

I left unsure if i’d progress, but interested.
